Supa Strikas: The squad to take on United
When Supa Strikas take on archrivals Invincible United this weekend, one team will be knocked out of Super League contention. In the run-up to this exciting clash, Supanews looks at the strengths of the Men in Red’s top players.
Big Bo – The big goalie is the foundation of the team. From his vantage point at the back he has seen countless games won… and a good few lost. His voice is deep and authoritative. As one of the older players he commands respect through experience.
The Blok - Hailing from Eastern Europe The Blok is everything his name suggests. He’s a solid defender who’s signature move is the block tackle… and behind the wall is a quiet, loyal man who puts his love of the game and his respect for his teammates above all else.
Cool Joe – Cool Joe is the crossing KING, and strikers like Shakes and El Matador always appreciate his quality crosses. He is also superb when it comes to scoring goals and that’s why Sultans manager Sheikh Ali Zaman wanted to buy Cool Joe last season.
Dancing Rasta - Rasta is good at man-marking and giving his opponent no chance to breathe. His eyes are so sharp he can see danger from far away and knows how to handle it. Power, stamina and flexibility are his hallmarks and that’s how he takes down his opponents.
Twisting Tiger – Tiger is a talented player who has learned a lot from his senior players. He is the fastest player in the midfield and can twist his way through the opposition. His ability to twist around midfielders and defenders gives Strikas the advantage when they attack.
Turk – Turk is one of the players from the development team. His slide tackles are fatal and exceptionally well timed, taking out his opponents on the field. He wins possession of the ball on 98% of his tackles. Supporters now know he’s one of the key players in the midfield.
Shakes – Shakes is always up for a new challenge, like confronting a new rival, but sometimes his enthusiasm gets him in trouble! Determined, but not over-eager he scores critical goals for the Men in Red. This is a player you mustn’t write off as he might surprise you.
El Matador – The Latino master of the strike zone is a classic foil for Shakes: he’s uncooperative, self-involved, a show-off… and a phenomenal soccer player! He loves the fast life, glamorous women and the limelight all to himself.
